my fav for sure is in california, i relate a lot to the lyrics. however i think i sing '81 the most, it's such an earworm to me so it's an honorable mention. dang, baby birch and jackrabbits are solid choices, too... honestly, joanna newsom is a genius. i feel every song can easily be a favorite

yo i fell off my vietnamese studying for the last few weeks, so i'm in rough shape to be practicing. but before that, i was working through "Southern Vietnamese For Beginners" by Anh Bui and Jack Noble. it's comic book style, and you get google drive access to their listening audios. i couple that with anki deck for vocab. it's going decently, but i honestly think the most helpful is listening to more vietnamese music and consuming vietnamese content on youtube and mimicking/repeating phrases or learning song lyrics. there is a somewhat expensive course my friend shared with me while we studied last month, and if i buy it, i'll let you know if it's worth it or not. what i seen so far seemed very worthwhile, because it was aimed at my demographic exactly (american-born vietnamese who are learning later in life) and showed the differences between northern and southern accents in multiple examples.
lmaoooo @ the picture book story. that is so awesome that she carried out that stealth mission for you i might have a similarly bootlegged copy of learning materials from a church, if i find it i'll send it to ya haha!!

Love the site, it feels very cozy and reminds me of the type of site i always imagined the web to be like. (I also grew up in the WinXP era, but was wayyy more offline back then, so web surfing wasn't a thing for me.)
